Quality
Thread Count
Thread count refers to the number of fibres woven together in one square inch of fabric. Thread counts vary, in general the higher the count the higher the quality of the fabric. Finer threads usually result in a much smoother and softer fabric. This is the main reason that a higher thread count fabric is much more desirable than a lower count. Having finer threads also means that the threads are slightly more delicate, so please always refer to the care instructions when laundering.

Choosing the right duvet
The weight, softness and warmth of any duvet are related to its filling type and Tog rating. We have an extensive range of tog ratings with both natural and synthetic fillings to choose from. The tog rating and filling type all influence a duvets weight, warmth, comfort and price.
Our duvet sizes range from single up to super king.
Tog rating
A duvets tog rating is simply a measure of its thermal properties - the higher the tog rating, the warmer the duvet.
In general, natural fillings outperform synthetic fillings in terms of thermal properties and therefore need less weight to achieve the same tog rating. This is known as ‘Fill Power'. In simple terms Fill Power is the fillings ability to recover in relation to its thermal efficiency. Just remember the higher the fill power, the better the duvet.
Which tog is right for you?
4.5-7.5 tog
Lightweight duvets suitable for summer use
10.5-13.5 tog
Duvets suitable for all year round use that are ideal for homes with central heating or for those who share a bed
15.0-20.0 tog
Duvets suitable for extra warmth during the cold winter months
We also have the popular ‘all seasons' duvets in our range. These consist of 2 separate duvets, one suitable for the summer and a warmer one for autumn and spring. For the winter months you simply attach the 2 together for extra warmth.
Duvet Fillings
Natural Fillings
Natural fillings make very comfortable duvets as they are soft, light and more durable than synthetic fillings but the main benefit is that these allow your skin to breathe. Our natural fillings range in quality from duck feather to luxurious Goose down. Most natural fill products will require professional cleaning as it's crucial that they are dried thoroughly and this may not be easily achieved at home.
Down
Down is the light fluffy coating clustered beneath the feathers of waterfowl. Most down can be found on the belly of geese and ducks. This is the part that is exposed to water and must keep the bird warm. In every 450 grams of feather there is on average only 113 grams of Down hence is premium price. As nature's most efficient insulator, down is warm, yet light and lofty. Additionally, down has the marvellous ability to breathe, lifting away perspiration so you don't experience the clamminess which often occurs with synthetics.
Feathers
In bedding, feathers do provide some insulation, but are mostly used for support. Only smaller feathers are used in bedding products such as feather beds, decorative pillows, and various feather and down blends.
Duck vs. Goose
Although all birds have some feathers and down, virtually all down and feathers are harvested from geese and ducks. Geese, which are larger birds, generally have bigger down clusters. As a rule of thumb, the larger the bird and the colder the climate in which they live, the larger the down cluster and the higher the fill power of the down.
Synthetic Fillings
In the majority of cases the synthetic filling of a duvet will be Polyester fibre. Duvets with Polyester fillings can be regularly cleaned as they are much easier to wash and dry compared to natural fillings, making them an excellent choice for allergy sufferers. With advancing fibre technology synthetic fillings are increasingly more comparable to natural fillings in terms of weight and warmth and are generally less expensive to buy.
We have special non-allergenic finishes, barrier fabrics for protection against dust mites, advanced fibre technology and superior quality cover fabrics.
Choosing the right pillow
One of the main considerations when selecting a pillow should be finding the right the balance between comfort and support. A pillow with a soft filling will cradle your head but will not support your neck where as a firmer pillow will provide more neck support but less comfort. Like duvets we have an extensive choice of pillows with conventional natural and synthetic fillings but in addition we have memory foam.
Pillows do have a shorter life cycle than duvets due to the pressure our heads exert on them. Natural fillings do tend to retain their shape and levels of support longer than synthetic fills but we would recommend you plump your pillow frequent and would advise you consider changing your pillows on a regular basis.
Pillow Fillings
Natural Fillings
We use feather and down or a combination of both in our natural fill pillows. Feather filled pillows tend to be firm and offer good support, down filled pillows are much softer for exceptional comfort.

Synthetic Fillings
In the majority of cases the Synthetic filling of a pillow will be Polyester fibre and like duvets these can be machine washed usually at 60oC, the temperature at which dust mites are killed. All synthetic pillows are non-allergenic and represent excellent value.
Memory Foam
Memory foam is a 100% visco-elastane temperature sensitive material that offers optimum support for your head and neck. Memory foam pillows are available in traditional and contour versions.
Latex
Latex has many benefits. It's a very long lasting natural material, cooler and more airy than memory foam and shapes itself to the head and neck. Latex is soft and supportive offering effective pressure relief and is excellent at retaining its shape.
Mattress and pillow protectors
In order to pro-long the life span of the products we sell, protect against soiling, add a layer of comfort and in most cases create a barrier against dust mites, we recommend a mattress protector and pillow protectors.
We have a full range of mattress topper and protectors in both natural and synthetic options. We have products for basic protection against soiling and general wear and tear, waterproof products to protect against minor spillages and anti-allergy products.
If you are looking for something more lavish we have quilted products that not only offer protection but an extra layer of comfort and warmth too.
Memory foam toppers are available if you require extra support from your mattress.
Pillow protectors offer great protection against soiling, feather leaks and dust mites.
All our protection products come in standard sizes and are easily fitted to mattresses and pillows.
Electric blankets
Electric blankets are very energy efficient due to the low amounts of power they use to operate making them very economical.
All our electric blankets conform to highest European and International Safety standards and are BEAB approved. BEAB Approval is recognised world- wide as representing integrity and technical expertise.
To help you choose an electric blanket let us explain the various types:
-
Underblankets and Mattress Covers
These blankets are fitted on top of the mattress, with the bottom sheet on top of the blanket and then the usual bedding on top. In order to secure them they either, in the case of underblankets, have tie tapes or as a mattress cover by a fitted skirt, similar method to a fitted sheet.
Blankets of this type can be used to pre warm the bed and then turned down to a lower setting for all night use. A standard underblanket may take between 60-90 minutes to warm up depending on the conditions. Look out for fast heat technology that will warm your bed in about 10 minutes.
-
Over Blankets and Duvets
An over blanket sits on top of you with a sheet between you and the over blanket or alternatively it can be fitted into a duvet cover.
The Duvet has enclosed heating wires and is used in the same way as an over blanket. Over blankets and Duvets can be used to pre warm the bed and then turned down to a lower setting for all night use.
Features Explained
Easy Care
All our electric blankets are machine washable and can be safely tumble dried in order to keep your blanket clean and fresh.
Heat Control
For individual comfort most blankets have variable heat controls, this provides the ability to pre-warm your bed and then lower the temperature for safe all night use. Look out dual controls, this allows personalised comfort on each side of the bed.
Extra Foot Warmth
This feature provides extra warmth at the foot of the bed to keep your toes nice and snug.
Protection
All blankets are fitted with a built in system that will automatically shut off the power if it exceeds a temperature considered comfortable or if an unsafe situation arises.
Before using your electric blanket please ensure you read the manufacturers user instructions and remember to keep them safe for future reference.
Product care
All of our bed linen comes complete with sewn in care instructions and we recommend you pay special attention to these when it comes to washing, drying and ironing. We also recommend that you wash your bed linen before using for the first time.
Special instructions for Duvets and Pillows
Always dry and air duvets thoroughly before putting them back on your bed
Using a protective cover over your duvet and pillows will increase the life span of your product
When new it is normal for memory foam to give off a slight odour. We therefore recommend that you leave these products to air for a couple of days before using them
